This guide explains how to enable GPS location tracking and configure essential settings in VeriClock. Learn how to set up and manage GPS tracking features for effective employee time and location management.
We have included a map display for a number of features in VeriClock. In its simplest form, our map can show where your employees have clocked in and out from. In its most customizable form, we can continuously track employees locations while they remain clocked in, and actually take actions, like sending a notification or clocking them out if they leave a designated area. See Setting up Geo Fences (Video)
In this section, we’ll take a closer look at the Geofencing feature available in VeriClock. To begin, ensure that Location settings are properly configured. Click on the “Settings” tab, then choose “Location”. Ensure the “Configure” button is selected and we can then review settings.
Location Configuration
The “Configure” page is separated into two sections, “Browser Location Settings” and “Mobile App Location Settings”. While we are primarily concerned with Mobile App settings, this is a good opportunity to confirm Browser settings are also correct. For simplicity, we will configure both globally, but these settings can be configured on a per-employee basis (you would need to edit each employee individually in that case).
In both sections, ensure the radio buttons have been selected for “Use Global Settings” (that’s what we’re configuring here). From the new choices that appear under Global settings, choose “Tag Clock In and Out Events” (accuracy and time limits can be ignored for the time being). If you would like to show an employee’s path as they make their way through their work day, you can additionally select “Continuous Tracking” in the Mobile App section. To ensure tracking and clock events are properly tagged in the app, it’s a good idea to warn employees if they have not enabled location permissions; check the “Warn…” box to generate that warning.
Once your configuration looks similar to what’s above, click “Save” before clicking on the “Geofencing” button at the top of the configuration window.
See Using Continuous Tracking and Request Current Location Button for information on tracking users while they are clocked in.
