This article guides you through the process of creating groups and assigning managers in VeriClock. It explains how to set permissions for managers, how to assign employees to groups, and how to tailor group settings to manage time tracking efficiently across your organization.
Groups can be used to bundle or sort employees. Grouping Employees is also a way to set group-assigned rules, making it easier to apply preset rules to new employees.
Add A Group
From your VeriClock tabs, go to Employees>Groups>click + Add Group or Edit an existing group.
Groups require a name, but a description is optional. We suggest adding a description to help you remember the group’s purpose and membership later.
Set Managers For A Group
Select the individuals you would like to be managers of the group (multiple employees can be designated as managers of the same group). Managers or supervisors can be assigned to have access to that group depending on the manager permissions set. See How to Set an Employee as a Manager for more information.
Once the group has been created and managers selected, click the “Save” button and switch to the “Active” employees sub-tab
Put Employees In A Group
Employees can then be assigned to the appropriate group from the “Group” drop-down menu beside the employee’s name. Note: employee’s can only belong to one group at a time See How to Add an Employee to a Group for more information.
Set Permissions
To select what permissions your managers will have, click on the “Settings” tab, then click on the “More” drop-down menu and choose “Permissions”. See Admins, Managers and Employees - User Roles and Permissions for more information
From the permissions page you can decide whether managers can clock in group members, view timesheets, edit employees, etc. Note: Whatever permissions are selected here will apply to ALL managers, regardless of the groups they manage.
Note: VeriClock has added a new multi-group feature where employees can be assigned to multiple groups. Contact VeriClock support to see if this feature will work for you and for this feature to be enabled in your account.
