Learn how to configure Advanced Overtime Rules for Special Dates in VeriClock to apply overtime pay on holidays or other designated dates. This guide explains how to enable special date rules, set hour thresholds, assign overtime time types, and manage multiple special date rules within a single ruleset to ensure accurate pay calculations and compliance for holiday and premium pay scenarios.
Advanced Overtime rules allows you to create multiple Overtime Rule Sets. Each Rule Set can be assigned to one or more employees and can includes one or more rules that define Overtime hours. Rules can be configured to apply to:
- Hours worked in a Day
- Hours worked in a payroll week (as defined by your payroll settings work week)
- Hours worked on Consecutive days
- Hours worked on Special Dates (This Guide)

This guide will show you how to set up Advanced Overtime Rules based on Special Dates. Note that multiple Special Date rules can be added to a Rule Set. Do this if a set of special dates should trigger different time types / payroll items.
Step 1: Select the Day Rule type and click on "Enable rule on special dates only"
Step 2: Enter the number of hours worked such that hours worked after the specified threshold will be classified at the overtime type selected
Step 3: Select all 'special days' that this rule applies to - Note: the list of days need to be updated yearly
Step 4: Select the time type that will be assigned to the hours that meet the above selected criteria
Enter your desired criteria for one or more of the options above; then click the 'Ok' button once complete to ensure your changes are saved.
