This article outlines how to set up and use GPS location tracking in VeriClock. It explains how to enable GPS tracking for employees, how to configure settings for continuous tracking, and how to customize tracking permissions on a per-user basis to ensure accurate location data.
GPS tracking is an optional feature where the level of location tracking can be set as needed on a per user basis.
Level 1) No GPS Tracking
- leave Settings>Location Browser GPS and Mobile Browser GPS set to Disabled For All
Level 2) Enable GPS Tracking as Optional
Employees can chose to enable or disable GPS tracking, and can still clock in or out regardless of the permission set in their phone - go to Settings>Location >
- Under Browser GPS: change to Enabled For All
- Under Mobile App GPS: change to Enabled For All & click Save
**Continuous tracking can also be enabled when GPS tracking is set voluntary. See Level 4 for information on enabling the continuous tracking option**
Level 3) Require GPS Tracking For All Employees to Clock In or Out
This will block employees from clocking in or out unless they have GPS tracking enabled in their phone for VeriClock. With this setting enabled, employees will get a GPS popup in their app directing them to enable location permission settings in their phone for VeriClock before they can clock in or out.
- Follow steps from Level 2 above + Enable Disallow Clock In and Out if phone's location permissions are not enabled (App Only) & click Save.
Level 4) Set GPS to Continuously Track Employees GPS Location While Clocked In
This option will require employees to set their phone location permission settings to 'Always Allow'. When the app is open in the background, the phone treats this as not using and tracking will stop unless set to 'Always Allow'. When continuous tracking is enabled, employees will get a popup in their phone directing them to set their location permission settings to 'Always" and clock in/out will be blocked until this setting is enabled in the employee's phone. *Location tracking is only available while the employee is clocked in.*
- Follow steps from Level 2 & 3 + Enable Continuous Tracking & click Save.

Level 5) Set Up Geofences Around a Job Location
Geofences are customizable fences set around a physical address or location. Geofences can be set to warn or require employees to be inside the geofence boundary while clocking in, clocking out and during clock in. *To use Geofencing, continuous tracking must be enabled.*
- From the Settings>Location tabs, click on Geofences>click Add Geofence + to add a new geofence, or click the wrench icon to the right of a geofence name to edit an existing geofence.

Enable Location Tracking for Some Employees
If GPS settings are set to Use Employee Individual Settings, then navigate to the tabs Employees>click the blue Edit button to the right of the employee's name>click on Advanced>under Location/GPS Settings set as needed and click Save.
