The VeriClock Kiosk app is built to operate in offline mode, allowing employees to clock in and out even when internet access is unavailable. Time events are securely stored on the device and automatically sync to your VeriClock account once the kiosk reconnects to the internet and the app is open. This guide explains how offline kiosk events work, how to identify unsynced time entries, and the steps to manually sync events to ensure accurate payroll and reporting. It also covers common troubleshooting scenarios, including internet interruptions, unsynced event indicators, and how to resolve syncing issues by reconnecting the device or submitting kiosk logs for support.
What happens with the kiosk app if my device loses internet connection?
If there is an interruption with your internet connection, or your device disconnects from the internet, the kiosk app will start running in offline mode. While in offline mode, employees can continue to clock in and out, and all these events are stored in your app until the device reconnects to the internet. Once reconnected, your kiosk app will need to be open for unsynced time events to sync to your VeriClock account.
How can I tell if my kiosk app has unsynced events?
If your kiosk device has unsynced events, you will see a number badge in the top right corner of your kiosk screen along the settings icon. The number will indicate the number of unsynced events that have not been uploaded to your VeriClock account.
How do I sync kiosk events To my VeriClock account?
- Tap the settings icon in the top right corner of your kiosk screen.
- Unsynced evens will show with a red error badge along the right side of the Sync row.
- Tap on Sync.
Any unsynced events stored on your device that have not yet been uploaded to your account will show on the kiosk sync status page.
- Click Sync Now to sync all events to your VeriClock account.
When all events have been synced from the kiosk device to your VeriClock account, your kiosk device will show 0 events available to sync.
Why would I have offline events if my device always has internet access?
From time to time the tablet or iPad the kiosk app is installed on may lose internet connection. Since the kiosk app is designed to run in offline mode, any offline events can only be uploaded to your VeriClock account when the device is connected to the internet. If the device shows unsynced events, then the device has gone offline and will need to be reconnected to the internet before those events can be synced.
My employees are clocking in on the kiosk, but I cannot see the time events from one of my kiosk devices in my VeriClock account.
If the device is offline when the kiosk app was last used for the day, any offline events will not sync to your account until the kiosk app is re-opened and the device once again has an internet connection. It is best to always confirm the device has no unsynced events after the last employee has clocked out, before shutting the device down for the night.
When I click Sync Now my events are not syncing.
If time events are not syncing when you tap the 'Sync Now' button, check your device to confirm you are connected to the internet. If your device still has unsynced events after confirming you are connected to the internet, then it is best to submit your app logs for troubleshooting. See How To Send Logs From The Kiosk App for more information.
