Continuous tracking allows employers to monitor employees' movements while they are clocked in. This guide explains how to enable and configure continuous location tracking for better time and location management. This setting allows you to view an employee’s path as they make their way through their work day, to confirm employees are where your expect them to be.
Continuous tracking also enables you to request an employee's GPS location to view their current location. **See Updated Phone Location Permissions for information on phone settings needed when using Continuous tracking.**
To configure location tracking for your account, go to Settings > Location > Basic > check the box in front of Continuous Tracking > see this guide on enabling location tracking and location tracking options: Using GPS Maps.
To ensure tracking and clock events are properly tagged in the app when using continuous tracking, we recommend selecting the option to warn employees if they have not enabled location permissions. This will generate a pop up message on the employees device that will warn them that if their phone location permission settings are not set correctly for Continuous Tracking. To enable this warning message, check the “Warn…” box as shown below. You can also choose "Disallow clock in and out if phone's (mobile device) location permissions are not enabled"
Once you have completed your desired configuration, click the “Save” button to ensure your updates are applied.
You can configure Mobile App GPS settings to be applied globally (to all team members), or these settings can be configured on a per-employee basis by clicking Use Employee Settings. Once "Use employee settings is set, per employee settings can be configured by editing the "Advanced" tab in each employee individually.
See How To View and Read GPS Maps for information on viewing your employee GPS location and for requesting an employee's current location.
Continuous tracking may lead to pop-up warnings for users in their device. See GPS Location Tracking Pop-up for more information.
