Find out how to handle situations where you forget to clock in or out. This guide offers tips for manually adjusting your timesheet, ensuring your work hours are accurately recorded.
Forgot To Clock Out
Sometimes you may forget to clock out, or you clicked the clock out button, but for some reason, the clock out was not successful.
When this happens, you will need to clock out before you can clock in for your next shift.
Every time you clock in and out, it time stamps your clock event. This lets your employer know that you remembered, along with the time you remembered.
Note: **If you have edit permissions and need to edit the duration of a clock in/out event, you must first clock out before you will be able to edit. Be sure to add notes about what you are doing when you make any changes to clock in/out events.**
To complete your shift, click Clock Out
- Under the Clock Out Report text box, write notes for your employer about what happened and the time you actually finished work. This will time-stamp your clock event with your notes, confirming you completed your shift.
- Click on the Complete Clock Out button to finish your shift.
- Contact your employer to give them a heads up that your shift time will need to be corrected.
After clocking out, you will get a pop-up confirming your clockout was successful. Once you click Close, you will be redirected back to the clock in screen to begin your next shift.
Success! You are now ready to clock in for your next shift.
Clocking Out From a Desktop Computer
If you clock out from a desktop computer, your confirmation will display differently.
Error at clock in or clock out
**If you are not able to clock out, you may have a red error message on your screen noting why clock in or clock out cannot be completed. Any errors will need to be resolved before clock in or clock out will be successful. Contact your employer or the VeriClock support desk: help@vericlock.com for assistance.**
Forgot To Clock In
If you forget to clock in, you should clock in as soon as you remember, even if it's at the end of your workday. The time you clock in is stamped along with any notes about what happened.
Open your VeriClock app.
Your app will open to the Punch Clock Screen.
If there is a Job and/or Service Item dropdown box, select your job and service item before you will be able to clock in. Skip to the next step if your screen doesn't show either a job or service item dropdown.
Tap the Complete Clock In button.
- Under the Clock In Report text box, write notes for your employer about what happened and the time you actually started work.
- Tap the Complete Clock In button.
- Once you have successfully clocked in, you will get a pop-up confirming your clock in.
- After tapping the Close button, you will be redirected to the Clocked In screen, where your time will keep counting until you clock out for the day. You can refresh your time counter by clicking the refresh circle on the top right corner of your screen.
- Remember that the start time and duration will need to be corrected by your employer. The notes you entered when clocking in will help your employer understand what corrections need to be made.
- Contact your employer to give them a heads up that your shift time will need to be fixed.
- When you finish your shift for the day, clock out as normal. See How to Clock Out Using the VeriClock App for information on how to clock out.
***If you get a red error message blocking clock in, you will need to resolve errors before you can clock in. Contact your employer or help@vericlock.com for assistance.**
