Learn how to troubleshoot the “Outside Geofence” warning in the VeriClock mobile app when you’re unable to clock in or out. This guide shows how to view geofence boundaries on the map, check your phone’s GPS location, identify common causes of geofence blocks, and gather the right information if support assistance is needed.
From time to time, you may see a warning on your app that indicates you are Outside a Geofence and unable to clock in.
To view a geofence boundary from the VeriClock app, first your app has been pointed to the job you will be looking at. You can do this by clocking into that job, or by being blocked from clocking into the job. After clocking in, or immediately after receiving an Outside Geofence Warning, click on the compass icon in the top right corner of your app screen.
This will open up a map showing the location where your phone is tagging you in relation to the corresponding geofence for the job selected. On the map you can scroll in or out, and can move around to find the geofence circle if the geofence is not showing on the screen. Being too close to the geofence boundary, can cause a user to be blocked from clocking in or out. If that occurs, try walking into the geofence boundary and then try clocking in/out again.
Viewing your location in relation to a geofence can be used to troubleshoot. Most common reasons for being blocked:
- The user is at a different job location from the one they are clocking into -scroll around on the map to find the corresponding geofence for the job selected.
- The geofence is set in the wrong location -this is helpful for knowing where to move the geofence.
- The user's phone is tagging the user in the wrong location on the map, causing the user to be incorrectly blocked from clocking into a geofence. ie. the phone thinks they are somewhere else -If the phone thinks the user is somewhere they are not, they will need to contact their phone carrier to have this fixed.
- The user is within the geofence boundary and is still being blocked -try moving around (still within the geofence) and see if you are still blocked from clocking in/out. If the user is still being blocked, return to your job location, try to clock in/out again, after being blocked click on the compass icon and send us a screenshot showing the user's location on the map + app logs so we can look into the reason the block is occurring.
Click see here for instructions on how to send in app logs.
