Learn how to use Duration alerts in VeriClock to monitor employee work hours and prevent missed clock outs or excessive time entries. This guide explains how to configure duration alerts by shift, day, week, pay period, or month, and how alerts can notify employees, managers, or admins when hour thresholds are exceeded for better payroll control and compliance.
Duration alerts can be used to notify if an employee goes over a specific number of hours, or to let an employee know they forgot to clock out.
For information on how to create alerts and alert options, see Setting Up Alerts
Alert options include:
- Shift - each clock in/out time event is a single shift. Multiple shift alerts could be triggered in a single day.
- Day - a day rule can only trigger once a day if the employee's daily hours exceed the rule.
- Week - week rules total all hours that occur during the week as set in account pay period.
- 2 weeks - rule will trigger if employee total hours exceed amount set in 2 week period.
- 4 Weeks - rule will trigger if employee total hours exceed amount set in 4 week period.
- Month - rule will trigger if employee exceeds the hours set in the rule during a month period.
- Pay Period - this option displays the pay period set in the account. See: Setting the Company Payroll Period
**Duration alerts are also available for the schedule, where an alert can be sent if an employee exceedes their scheduled shift stop time. For information on schedule duration alerts, see Schedule Notifications - Remind Users of Upcoming Shifts**
